Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing a wedding photographer can seem difficult to deal with in anticipation, a daunting task for most couples. This is why we have tried to answer as many of the frequently asked questions here. However if you can't find the answer here please feel free to get in touch. The easiest way is to click on the Contact Us page.

What style of wedding photography do you do?

We don't believe in labels, we simply take great pictures of your wedding to tell the story of your day. This involves a mixture of traditional and contemporary, photojournalism or reportage.

When are payments for our wedding photography due?

Once you have decided to use our services and established that we are available, a 30% deposit (non-refundable) is due. This effectively books the day exclusively for your wedding. The remaining amount due is payable one week prior to the wedding or no later than the actual wedding day itself.

What forms of payment are accepted?

visamcd logoamex logo For invoices direct from Timeline Photography, all major credit cards / cheques / money orders / and cash are accepted.
Or, should you decide to process payment by direct credit of our Timeline account, Banking Details will be supplied by us in our correspondence with you.

It seems to be a lot of money for some wedding photographs.

A couple of hours after the event, the wedding cake will have gone. The next day, you won’t own the reception venue and if you’re anything like the rest of us, a couple of years later the wedding dress will seem to have shrunk. But the photographs of the day will get more valuable as the years roll by. Do you really want to trust your memories to anyone other than a professional photographer?

Pricing is competitive, however, our attention to detail and commitment to excellence in delivering the final product is well earned. In the case of  wedding, family or individual portraits would you trust your life’s memories to just anyone because they were cheap?

The bitterness of poor quality will linger long after the sweetness of a cheap price is remembered.

What if I require services not included in the options?

Our options are based upon our most requested services. However we are completely flexible, simply e-mail us with your requirements and we will customise a package for you.

How do we know exactly what to expect from you as wedding photographers?

Before you spend any money with us you will receive our wedding agreement, which sets out our obligations to you and indeed yours to us.

What wedding album suppliers do you use?

The albums that we provide are the best quality available and of course samples will be available for viewing. Traditional "matted" albums available on request.

Some photographers state that no-one else can take photographs at our wedding.

We welcome your friends and family taking pictures, all we would ask is that they respect the fact that you have employed us to capture your special day and when asked let us get on with that job. Wedding photography is both an art and a science, requiring someone with the proper equipment and the right skills, plus the demeanor to be effective and creative under pressure. It is almost impossible to be a guest and at the same time, concentrate on the technical details of photographing an entire day. Trust your once-in-a-lifetime wedding to a professional... You can trust us.

What area do you cover?

We are based in Sydney, NSW Australia. For weddings outside of this region please contact us for our very reasonable travel expenses.

How many wedding photographs will you take?

Usually around 1000 images, however as perfectionists only the very best of these will make the grade and on average approximately 400-600 will be available for proofing.

Do you retouch the photographs?

Absolutely, all of the images taken will be subject to the most rigorous checks and where necessary will be adjusted to ensure everyone is seen in the best light.

Can we request specific shots of the wedding?

Of course, prior to the event we will meet up and discuss the “must have” pictures.

How soon will the photographs be ready?

If you wish some photographs can be shown as a slide show at your reception! Of course the finished images take a little longer but should be available within 20 working days.

Can you provide black and white images?

Absolutely, we will provide any of the images as either black and white, colour or a mixture of both.

Will the photographer be intrusive?

Not at all!! In terms of lighting, some cameras are even more sensitive than the human eye. All of Timeline Photography staff are well trained and are always extremely sensitive to the responses of the crowd. We always read our audience and knowing when the moment has arrived to get our subjects on film. Of course, some people may not want to participate and we always respect their desire for privacy.
